HENRY FORD EUROPEAN CONSERVATION AWARDS The Conservation Foundation and Ford Motor Company invite project entries of any size by February 26 for this year’s UK awards. The four categories are youth projects, heritage, natural environment and conservation engineering. One project from the four category winners will go forward to the European final in Dresden, Germany. The youth project winner for 1998 was Hedingham School in Essex, which received pound;2,000 for developing the Frances Ripper Orchard in its grounds. BT GROUNDS FOR THE FUTURE This new scheme offers cash awards totalling over pound;60,000 to schools to help make improvements to their grounds which will benefit pupils, staff and their community. In addition, advice and practical support is offered. Project ideas should be entered by March 26 or June 30 or November 30. BT has set up the scheme in partnership with Learning through Landscapes and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. Application packs have been sent out to schools. Details: 01962 846258.
