David Johnston has been appointed badminton co-ordinator for North Lanarkshire’s New Opportunities in PE and Sport programme and will be based at St Maurice’s High in Cumbernauld.

Johnston, who has been coaching the town’s junior club for more than 11 years, already runs a badminton academy at the school every Thursday and is keen to spread the word.

“I want to have every school in North Lanarkshire playing,” he says. “This involves going and asking how we can help them to improve their badminton programme.”
