It is a pivotal year for badminton with Glasgow hosting the Sudirman Cup - the world team championships - from June 10-17. Many of Scotland’s promising players will compete this weekend at the North of Scotland Junior Open at Aberdeen’s Beach Leisure Centre - under-13s on Saturday and under-17s on Sunday. Badminton Scotland has worked hard in schools to ensure there is a steady stream of talent coming through. It has been a busy spell for players with the Scottish Schools’ Badminton Union under-14, under-16 and under-19 championships last week, and the Bank of Scotland under-11s competing earlier in the month.
