The drive to encourage kids to adopt healthy lifestyles and sensible eating habits (ScotlandPlus, pages 2-3) has its downside - literally.

One mother at a Glasgow primary was less than happy with the health board’s iitiative to ensure pupils have a good scoff of free fruit after her son slipped on a discarded banana skin in the playground and had his hitherto perfect dental health impaired through breaking two front teeth.
