Canada: A board of education has overruled the suspension of an eight-year-old for pointing a chicken piece at a classmate and saying “bang”. Pupil Billy Barnes fell foul of the zero-tolerance policy at Ragged Island elementary school, in Haifax, Nova Scotia, and got a one-day suspension His mother said: “There are rules against guns. But this wasn’t a gun. It was a chicken finger.” The province’s minister of education has agreed to review schools’ codes of conduct.
