DAVID WHITTON, the First Minister’s official spokesman, said this week that a fundamental review of course content would have to take place to ensure pupils were “IT aware” which in turn required teachers with the necessary expertise.

Tacher training would then need to come under scrutiny as the nature of teaching changed.

“This all means that we will have to start asking serious questions about the subject-based nature of the curriculum,” Mr Whitton said.
