No doubt there will be many conspiracy theories. The explanation appeared to be that the banner was sent on its westward journey from the EIS’s Edinburgh headquarters - with mismatched poles.
It couldn’t therefore be unfurled and spent the day ignominiously in a polly bag inside a rucksack carried by veteran leftie and scourge of the leadership, Jock Morris. A delicious irony which probably would not have been appreciated by one of the speakers at the rally - Alana Ross, national EIS president.
