A scheme has been launched to encourage gifted children from state schools to become barristers.

Geoffrey Vos, QC, chairman of the Bar, has announced a placement scheme that will help young people find out more about the legal profession first hand.

The Bar council also plans to set up loans so candidates from poorer backgrounds can pay for expensive legal training.
