Yes, we admit it! The diary has become unhealthily obsessed by Jilly Cooper, queen of the bonkbuster. Last week most of the column was surrendered to revealing her plans for a novel about a private school and state school. This week brings the intriguing sequel that Jolly Super has been lunching Harrow head Barnaby Lenon.
Last time we talked to Jilly, she was planning the role the private school head was to play in her tome: “There is going to be a very sexy headmistress of the state school. And there is going to be this terribly sexy head of the private school. He is going to be sexy in that smug, arrogant sort of way.” We trust Mr Lenon knows what he is getting into.
