The home link service at Park Mains High, Renfrewshire, was established to support young people facing issues at home or school which are barriers to learning. A home link worker and assistant work with primaries in the run-up to transition; run a homeworkgames club; provide regular S3 tutorials including support for the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network group; have input to the social and vocational skills course; provide individual support in and out of class, and encourage involvement in whole-school activities. This has resulted in greater confidence, better attendance and fewer exclusions.
