Basketball Scotland is hoping to tighten up on the Scottish Schools’ Cup competitions this year after showing concern about the number of schools not fulfilling fixtures in the early rounds.

Schools have to have a named coach with every team entered and any non-teacher coach has to be pre-registered with the governing body. Teams turning up for matches without their named coach, and no prior communication with Basketball Scotland, face forfeiting that fixture.

The governing body will attempt to ensure that teams entering competitions will get at least two matches, even if one is in the plate competitions. Early rounds, where possible, will be played in group format. The competitions will follow the same age groups as previous years S1, Under-14, Under-15 and Open.

Full draws for the competitions will be announced shortly.
