BBC staff threaten to strike

BBC education staff are to vote on industrial action over plans to scrap their department.

The 250 producers believe their programmes, used by 90 per cent of UK schools, will be sidelined as the corporation pushes ahead with the devlopment of a digital curriculum.

Their department was due to be broken up on October 1, with staff dispersed to other sections of the BBC but they are refusing to move. The ballot takes place next week.
