After reading Mark Taha’s letter (“Just cut the ... bureaucracy”, 5 July), two questions occur to me. First, if end-of-course tests discriminate against girls and continuous assessment discriminates against boys, shouldn’t we, in the interest of fairness and gender equality, inflict both forms of assessment on all candidates? Second, is it purely coincidental that the next page’s headlines concern school stress and student depression?
