Misinterpretations of apparent facts can cause difficulties, according to the Rev Ewan Aitken, the local authorities’ education man with the cross.
Aitken tells the tale of a regular air traveller who told his young kids that they had to sleep in their own beds and not disturb mummy while he was away.
The man flew back to be met at Arrivals by his kids shouting at the tops of their voices: “Good news, dad. No one slept with mummy while you were away.”
