We are happy to report that West Dunbartonshire education committee has decided to restore beef products to school dining halls. No doubt this was at the instigation of one of the council’s education managers, Mr Cook.
Over on the east coast, Edinburgh Councillor Brian Meek enquired gently whether school canteens had suffered in the cutbacks over school meals.
No facilities had been closed, he was told by acting director of education John Dobie. Not even at Currie, Meek asked. “Oh, you mean Currie High School,” Dobie said. “I certainly didn’t mean curry, the hot meal,” the councillor meekly explained.
