Beef still banned by many councils;In brief

HALF of all local education authorities still ban British beef, the Meat and Livestock Commission has admitted. The news came as concern over food increased with Marks amp; Spencer this week banning all genetically-modified products from its shelves - the first major high-street store to do so.

The Local Government Association has recommended a five-year ban on the use of GM foods in school meals.
