Fancy a virtual trip around London’s Globe Theatre? It’s part of Converse: the Literature Website, a source of online learning about English literature for 11 to 19-year-olds. It’s a bright but challenging website that’s designed to encourage students to go on to higher education. There’s a Chaucer translator, essays and resources - some surprising history, too.

Did you think that Cambridge University’s first black student was a relatively recent event? He was Francis Williams, a Jamaican, who enrolled in 1702. He wrote poems in Latin and returned to Jamaica where he opened a school.
