PUPILS from poor, inner-city schools are less likely to take drugs than those from well-heeled areas, according to the latest Government statistics. While drug-taking among young people increased between 1998 and 1999, only 10 per cet of those from deprived areas were users - compared to 13 per cent in other schools.
However, the figures suggest that children who smoke, or have siblings who take drugs, are much more likely to take drugs as well.
