In the more than 30 years I have worked in FE, I have seen dramatic improvements. Therefore, it saddened me to read in FE Focus 2 September two key players, Sally Hunt (“Voting with our fees”) and Fiona McMillan (“New AoC president talks tough on IfL’s battle to gain respect”), focusing on the role of the Institute for Learning, adding fuel to what should be an internal professional discussion. I fail to see what benefit will accrue if we continue washing our dirty linen in public and further weaken and isolate our professional body.
