Bid to cut VAT on uniforms

A Bill calling for VAT on school uniforms to be scrapped was having its second reading in Parliament this week. Larger children are penalised, as VAT is charged as soon as a child exceeds the Government’s “average dimensions” for a 14-year-old.

The Private Member’s Bill, introduced by Tim Loughton, MP, is supported by store group Bhs.
