Big leap for ethnic groups

Children from ethnic minority backgrounds make more progress at secondary school than their white classmates, according to research.

Improvements in performance were greatest in the two years prior to pupils taking their GCSEs, the report from Bristol university said.

Academics from the university's Centre for Market and Public Organisation, found that Bangladeshi, Indian and Black African pupils made the biggest gains.
