In a Bilston state of mind

I was a teacher at Bilston Community College from 1990 until its dissolution. Looking at the picture of a bulldozer among the rubble of the college (TES, June 21) made me realise that for me, Bilston Community College was never about bricks and mortar but was always a state of mind.

My experience of Bilston College at its best was of a truly inclusive organisation, a place where equality of opportunity was central, and where we said “if they want to learn, we want to teach them”.

I hope that those of us who were there in its heyday remember to take the best of Bilston with us wherever we are now.
