A book celebrating the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth is being launched by Edinburgh University researchers.
Think Darwin, Think Evolution, Think Now is for Higher and Advanced Higher Biology students and will be sent to all Scottish secondary schools.
It highlights the importance of Darwin’s theories to today’s understanding of evolution and issues such as genetic technologies, climate change, alien species and medicine. Each chapter has activities and discussion points which emphasise the social, moral, economic and cultural issues surrounding the topics. Researchers from PhD students to professors have been interviewed for the book and a podcast will be available on the Scottish Initiative for Biological Education site this month.
