A Derbyshire secondary teacher who downloaded sexual material on her school laptop has escaped censure from England’s General Teaching Council. Deborah Shaw admitted downloading and contributing material of a sexual nature while teaching at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School. But the disciplinary committee found her actions did not constitute unacceptable professional conduct because she was suffering from undiagnosed bipolar disorder that affected her awareness of her actions and their consequences.
