* Two of the world’s biggest providers of “learning platforms” to education - Blackboard and WebCT, both US-based - have agreed to merge. Blackboard has bought out WebCT in a pound;180m deal. Blackboard and WebCT are better known in higher and further education in the UK. A spokesperson said that all current customers in the UK would continue to be fully supported.
