An intriguing event for primary children at the Museum of Garden History in Lambeth next Wednesday is called “Adventures of Captain Bligh: Story Telling and Picture Drawing”. It promises stories “of Captain William Bligh of the Bounty and his 18th-century sea-faring adventures. Children can learn how Bligh “found new plants to bring back to Britain and his expeditions to transport food to slaves”. But isn’t there a rather famous episode missing here?

Chris Potts of the museum, says the talk, part of Black History Month, will “touch on the mutiny stuff - but Captain Bligh is buried in the graveyard here so we want to emphasise some of the other things he achieved.”
