The Bloke’s Own Paper is part of a wider Samaritans campaign to break the taboos among young men on talking about feelings of inadequacy and depression. Starting with a set of macabre cartoons, it then provides brief but punchy advice, showing how even the most laddish of lives can conceal nihilism and despair. Sex, drink and drugs make an ppearance, but the emphasis is on staying active and keeping in touch with other people. Professional counsellors are listed as a neutral conclusion.

The Bloke’s Own Paper is free (but donations are welcome) from The Samaritans, 10 The Grove, Slough SL1 1QP Tel: 01753 216500 Fax: 01753 819004. Website: www.samaritans.org.uk
