Gerard Kelly is right to liken the academies revolution to the American variety: short on casualties, long on tedium (“An unfinished revolution in the reign of timidity”, 11 January).Unfortunately, the continuous change to which schools have been subjected over the past 10 years has been more like the French or Russian revolutions - very bloody.
