* Involve as many of your staff as possible in the planning process

* Find out where you are today in terms of ICT resources and staff

competence and confidence

* Make sure you know what your LEA’s plans are for the Standards Fund

* Decide where you want to go and how you are going to get there

* Look outwards to other schools and the wider community, as well as focusing on your own school

* Think how your school can contribute to the growth of the National Grid for Learning - it’s not just about taking resources from it

* Remember your training and support needs

* Make sure you know how you are going to sustain your ICT plans, especially after the additional funding has run out

* Don’t try to do everything at once

* Remember there is a lot of help available

* Make sure you meet any deadlines set by your local education authority
