WJEC - the only exam board based in Wales - will celebrate its 60th birthday by awarding A-level excellence in Wales and England in a special ceremony at St David's Hotel on Monday. This week the exam board said it had changed "radically" since it was formed from the Central Welsh Board in 1948 with just "a handful of staff". Although half of WJEC's business now comes from England, the organisation retains a strong Welsh ethos. The TES has sponsored the TES Cymru Best Communication Award.
