Schools in Renfrewshire are positive about the impact of integrated learning systems, Stephen McKenzie, the authority’s head of quality and service development, reports.

“They seem to be very successful with able children and they have the potential to support others, like looked-after children. We are very pleased and interested in what they are doing for us.”

At Castlehead High in Paisley (above), all children in S1 and S2 sample English and maths through the software. Lunchtime clubs are available for children to do extra work in their own time.

A spokeswoman for Learning and Teaching Scotland said: “Any systems of technology are only as good as the people who are using them. They cannot do everything for everybody.”
