Boost in literacy for poorer pupils

Poor pupils who are behind in reading and writing will be offered catch-up lessons before they start secondary school, the Westminster government has said. Under the pound;10 million scheme, funded via the pupil premium, disadvantaged pupils who fail to reach level 4 in English by the end of primary school will get the chance to take part.
