A pilot scheme will be launched by the Employment Department next week to boost the number of employers who buy into college courses for their trainees. The move follows a joint FEFCDepartment inquiry into the collapse of the day-release market last year.
Employment minister James Paice told the Association of Principals of Colleges’ conference: “We know that some 40 per cent of employers do not use the FE sector for the training of their workforce. It is difficult to respond to a sector of the market that ignores you.”
The aim would be to set up employer-college links to target and influence non-users.
