A woodland maths trail has been created at Harestanes, near Jedburgh, in the Borders. The mile-long trail devised by Amanda Findlay, a teacher at St Ronan’s Primary School, Innerleithen, and Greg Macfarlane, woodland officer for the Forestry Commission South Scotland Conservancy Area, is aimed at primary pupils.

Kits containing the measuring equipment to carry out the exercises related to the woodland environment can be booked before a visit. Contact Harestanes Visitor Centre (tel: 01835 830306) or Melrose Resource Centre (tel: 01896 823517).

Teachers’ notes will also be available on www.tweededucation.org.uk or www.foresteducation.org.uk
