Readers will recall that Willie McKay, the SNP’s education chairman on Scottish Borders Council, was recently dumped after machinations within the party. Now Murray Hendrie has accused fellow councillor Donald Moffat of convening a meeting to give away the only chairmanship ever held by the SNP in the Borders.
“He traded this key position for a vice-chairmanship in leisure and recreation,” Hendrie railed. “The last time such a ‘deal’ was concluded was when the American Indians gave away land for coloured beads.”
