A 10-year-old boy was this week banned from selling fairy cakes for charity at his school. Allister Whiteside was told to stop baking the 10p Rice Krispie and fairy cakes for friends at Bearwood primary in Smethwick, West Midlands. He was said to have raised more than pound;150 for the RSPCA, Bearwood-based Friends of the Animals and Oxfam. His father, Jim, wrote to the Prime Minister complaining at his son’s treatment.
