Segregation has taken to the buses in Stranraer of all places, despite the fact that the town doesn’t have a Catholic secondary school.

But the truth behind a “school segregation” headline in the local press is that pupils on two routes from Stranraer Academy are being kept apart on gender rather than religious grounds.

Bus bosses have demanded the move following trouble involving the boys and girls but, as a pupil spokesperson told the Galloway Gazette: “The pupils think it’s a bit over the top.”
