Teachers and school support staff in Bradford have been invited to spend a day learning about a new park that is being developed in the centre of the West Yorkshire city.

Bradford Council says it is vital for pupils to learn about its scheme to transform the city centre and its “vision for a regenerated city”.

“All education professionals are being asked to mark this exciting step in the city’s future by learning about the project and taking it back into the classroom,” a spokesperson said.

Those who do attend will spend the day meeting builders, engineers and architects working on the project, take a tour of the city and be given an information pack, including lesson plans and learning ideas.

The six-acre “City Park” will boast “the largest city-centre water feature in the UK”, according to the council.

It will be hoping the project fares better than a regeneration scheme that saw a huge tract of the city centre demolished in 2004. Building work on the replacement has yet to begin. WS.
