BRADFORD is set to embark on the biggest privatisation of school services yet attempted in this country. The Labour-controlled council’s bid to bring in the private sector dwarfs privatisations already under way in Islington, Hackney and Waltham Forest. The West Yorkshire authority, with200 schools, is more than twice the size of any of the London pioneers. Its proposal - being voted on as The TES went to press - comes just weeks before the Office for Standards in Education is expected to criticise the way in which many of Bradford’s school services are run.
