Brain gym and Nintendo beyond comparison

Your report “It is all a bit of a game” (October 26) reported that the Nintendo More Brain Training game from Dr Kawashima was more effective in the classroom than the brain gym technique. This claim was based on what was on the Learning and Teaching Scotland website at the time.

However, the original LTS page inaccurately reflected the real results of the study. LTS has now changed its web report to convey those.

The LTS web report now makes clear that the brain gym group experienced significant and impressive improvements. The two groups (brain gym and Nintendo) cannot be properly compared: the brain gym group spent less than half the time doing movements than the Nintendo group did playing the game, and a very limited selection (only four out of the 25 possible) of brain gym movements were used.
