Threesomes

Using the same digit exactly three times, make two expressions to give the answer 24. For example, using three 2s we can get:

22 + 2 = 24

Now do it for the digits 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9.

You can use the signs +, - , x, V, integers or decimals, powers or roots, and factorials.

Remember that: factorial 4 is written as 4! and means 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24; and point four recurring is written as .* 4 and equals four ninths.
