SADLY, the much-hyped big debate about sex education and Section 2A failed to materialise as Holyrood’s education committee met last week.
The first, and lengthy, amendment to the education Bill, had been tabled by Brian Monteith, the Tories’ amiable trencherman, Herald diarst and education spokesman in what’s left of his spare time. Unfortunately the 2pm kick-off proved the undoing of the proceedings.
Monteith failed to show after lunch until 2.30, leaving the amendment to bite the dust. His ancient petrol-guzzling Jag is fingered.
