The 59th International Astronautical Congress is taking place in Glasgow at the end of September. It will feature a space exhibition, talks, lectures and special “space” workshops for pupils and teachers.

Its outreach programme for school visits and teachers will run workshops from Tuesday to Thursday (September 30-October 2), 10-12noon and 2- 3pm.

The toy manufacturer Lego celebrates the 50th anniversary in 2008 of the Lego brick, and a special touring exhibition will give children the opportunity to create a mural with a space theme that will be donated for display at the Glasgow Science Centre.

There will also be a teachers’ workshop providing a short introduction of where and how space can be used across topics and age groups, and where to find appropriate resources.
