Two hundred years ago, the quayside at West India Quay used to be known as Blood Alley because of the cuts and bruises sustained by dockers toiling with heavy sacks of raw sugar. Today it is overlooked by skyscrapers, converted warehouses and leisure complexes. But the tough old days have been brought back to life at the Museum in Docklands.
