A practical guide aimed at ensuring children from multicultural backgrounds really benefit from early years education has been launched by the Commission for Racial Equality.

The latest edition of From Cradle to School: A Practical Guide to Racial Equality in Early Childhood Education and Care costs Pounds 5.50 and is available from Central Books, 99 Wallis Road, London E9 5LN.

Anational day to raise the profile of children’s right to play is to be held on August 7, backed by the National Play Council.

The theme of Playday 96 will be Play Around the World. The one-day celebration has been running for nine years and is aimed at local authorities and voluntary organisations involved with children.

This year the organisers have produced a theme pack of ideas for anyone interested in running a local event.
