The Pounds 1.5 million contract will enable the Council to establish links with teacher resource centres in neighbouring countries, improve the management and planning of English-language teaching, and provide in-service training.
The scheme, funded by the Overseas Development Administration, will also help the war-torn country to expand enrolment, especially among girls, reduce class sizes and improve teacher supply.
The British Council, on behalf of the ODA, has also delivered 100,000 English textbooks to more than 65 junior secondary schools throughout the country.
