MANAGING QUALITY IN SCHOOLS. By John West-Burnham. Pitman. pound;16.99

Drawing on the experience of a range of organisations, including ICI, the National Trust and schools both here and abroad, the author explains the principles of total quality management and how to implement them. In the second edition of this book, first published in 1992, he also looks at recent influences on the quality movement, and concludes that the OFsted inspection process, with its externally imposed criteria, may be inhibiting the development of school-based approaches to continuous improvement.
