* I agree that it is good news that in future A-Level students will have to study more British history (Editorial, TES, April 14). There is indeed plenty to teach from the execution of King Charles I in 1649 to the General Strike in 1926 and Ted Heath’s failure to win a “who governs the country?” election in February 1974. I presume this is what the curriculum authority had in mind.
