MEDICAL PHYSICS. By Roger Muncaster. Stanley Thornes. pound;10.99.
The various medical and health physics options of AAS syllabuses are covered clearly and concisely by this book. The chapters are short, almost to the point of being revision notes, and there are numerous exam questions.
Numerical answers are given, and the worked examples also give help on the calculation parts of questions. The diagrams are clear but the few photographs are poorly reproduced.
Medical physics is an option that was introduced to increase the relevance of physics for 16 to19-year-old students. It is disappointing to see how the demands of the examination system can turn it into the reductive, decontextualised study that it appears to be in this book.
