Hundreds of the most talented and innovative professionals in the sector gathered together in London last week at the prize-giving ceremony for TES’s inaugural FE Awards.
Winners across a range of categories from Outstanding Leadership in Learning and Skills to Outstanding Finance Team collected their trophies from host Evan Davis, presenter of Dragons’ Den and Radio 4‘s Today programme.
A unanimous decision by the panel of distinguished judges awarded the title of Provider of the Year to London’s BSix Brooke House Sixth-Form College. Back in 2006, BSix was in danger of closure, but, led by principal Ken Warman, it has increased student numbers by 50 per cent and quadrupled applications. Its first Oxford University entrant began studies this year; three more have been offered Oxbridge places this year.
A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Huw Evans, principal of Coleg Llandrillo Cymru and founder of ColegauCymru, the voice for Welsh colleges.
